GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

A candidate will be eligible for admission to the First Year of the three-year degree course if he/she fulfils the eligibility conditions as prescribed by HPU Shimla, which are subject to amendment from time to time. In general:

1. A candidate should have passed 10+2 examination conducted by HP Board of School Education or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto by HP University, Shimla.

2. For admission to First Year, an applicant must not be more than 23 years and 25 Years for girls as on 01-07-2024. The upper age limit for SC/ST candidates is 26 years. However, the Vice Chancellor, HPU Shimla in exceptional circumstances, to be recorded in writing, may allow a relaxation in age up to a period of six months.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION

The admission form, complete in all respects, including personal information, undertakings and PTA form duly attached, must be submitted along with the following documents:

1. Three (2x2.25cm size) photographs of the candidate and one (2x2.25cm size) photograph of his/her father/mother/guardian.

2. (i) Matriculation Certificate (ii) 10+2 Certificate. [All certificates from matriculation examination onwards must be shown to the admission committee in original along with their photo copies.]

3. Original Character Certificate issued by the Head of the institution last attended [for admission to the I Year course/new admission]. The character certificate must not have been issued more than six months prior to the date of admission.

4. H.P. Domicile Certificate [for girl students only].

5. Photocopy of AADHAAR card.

6. Photo copy of bank pass book showing Account Number and IFSC code

7. Category Certificate in case of a student seeking admission in SC/ST/OBC category

8. IRDP/BPL certificate, if applicable

9. Disability certificate, if applicable

10. Migration Certificate [in case the student has passed his/ her 10+2 examination from the board other than HPBOSE]

11. Affidavit/ undertaking, wherever applicable

Note:

(i) The above documents should be attached with the admission form in the same order.

(ii) Every student must have his/her own e-mail ID.

(iii) Parents must ensure the entry of their Mobile No. in the admission form in order to make it convenient to send them important messages.

N.B: If a student has discontinued his/her studies for one or more year(s), the character certificate issued by Head of the Institution last attended must be supplemented by another character certificate not more than six months old, obtained from gazetted class-I officer or the Panchayat Pradhan of the area concerned.
